Karan Wanchoo
I am currently a masters student at University of Pennsylvania (Penn) in the Electrical Engineering department working on projects that involve application of Natural Language Processing (NLP) on social media such as Reddit and Twitter to understand psychosocial and health behaviors from language discussions as well as on Vision and Language Navigation projects that involves a blend of NLP with Computer Vision (CV) to facilitate embodied intelligence in self-autonomous robots. I have 5 years of experience working in the data science teams of leading consulting firms such as Accenture. During my stints I have employed big data machine learning and NLP models/capabilities to address problems for Fortune 100 firms.
My research interests lie in the following fields:
1. Building systems that facilitate user interaction using natural language (such as vision and language navigation systems or Open-Domain Question Answering systems)
2. Performing large-scale analyses to discover new behavioral and psychological factors of health and well-being manifested through natural language.
3. Building deep learning statistical models for classification, prediction and forecasting of key decision variables in businesses across domains (Technology, Retail, Manufacturing, Healthcare etc).
