On Probabilistic QAM Shaping for 5G MIMO Wireless Channel with Realistic LDPC Codes
Wireless 5G is a promising and widely used technology. Existing wireless technologies utilize a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) system based on Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM). In general, the aim of PS is to improve spectral efficiency (SE) using a new MCS based on standard QAM constellations with unequal probability points. Although 5G wireless requirements continue to use QAM constellations with equal probability points, probabilistic shaping (PS) is now used in ATSC broadcasting and optics. In this paper, we apply PS under the limitations of the 5G wireless protocol, such as the relatively small size of the transport block, low complexity requirements and realistic LDPC codes. The deliverables of this work include technology proposals for 5G-6G wireless communication, a study of PS mathematical methods and numerical experiments in the Sionna simulator at the physical communication system level.
